Has anybody used the detachable mags for the SKS? Don't want to go into the reasons I want to go with SKS's instead of AKs.Do the mags attach securely, are they reliable? I don't mind the 10 rd fixed mag/ stripper clips system, but Mrs Freefall wants to be able to put out more rounds. (good girl) Any input would be appreciated. Informed input of course will be more appreciated. thanks.

I've had and tried a lot of the Detatachable mags in both 20 and 30 round capacity! I would say, if your adept with stripper clips, the 10 round mag is way more reliable and easier to load! I've tried it on a lot of different China made SKS a Russian and a Romanian! Yes, the 20 and 30 rounders can fit and feed, but loading them in the gun is a pain in the ***! The first 10 or 15 go fine, the last 5 or 10 are a real heartake! I used to like the Fixed in place 20 round mags that China used to make and import, but they have all but dried up! if you could find a fixed in places 20, these had the proment star on the side, that would work as well as a 10 and give you a bit more capacity? Anyhow, good luck and let us know how you make out, OK?

my friend Doug has an SKS and it uses AK mags
right now i dont remember right now how but i think it had some thing to do with the furniture but ill call him and get back with you
and the AK mags not having the duck bill helps

I have a Norinco sks with a Tapco 20 rnd detachable works great.Stay away
from Promag they jam up.I wish Tapco made 30 rnd mag.
