Pretty much the old P226 "Navy". Sharp lookin gun for sure, but you may end up dropping an extra $200-300 for little more than a Navy anchor mark. I don't see any other difference between this gun and the standard $750 P226.

It's your wallet, knock yourself out! P226's are great guns, BTW.

Just a few extra's like anticorrosive finish, night sights, and a little "prestige" of having the same gun the Navy SEAL's are issued. To some that is worth the extra ching. Not gonna lie, wouldn't mind one myself but will settle for a standard, no frills P226

Nearly every P226 comes standard with night sights and a very anti-corrosive finish. Even the X-change kits come with night sights...it's standard on all of the P22# models I believe. SEAL's generally get what they want...so I guess you'd call it the Sig "some of them choose".

But I agree 100% that it's a cool gun. An expensive anchor stamp, but a sweet firearm.

Is the navy anchor the dedicated sure fire way to tell the difference between the MK25 and the standard 226? I was at one of my favorite gun shops and they have one in stock with the anchor or the slide but he said it wasn't the MK25 but I still wasn't convinced because it made no sense. Any ways, what's a good price for this pistol?

    My thoughts exactly.

Bought my railed w/sig light night sights in 04 for $640 and got 3 hi cap mags. Great gun. One buddy bought the same Sig last year for $699 and another friend bought one last week for $725.

I understand the dollar has lost 20% value since BO turned on the printing press but still seem to me that on the MK25 your paying $300 for the cute little anchor on the side.

( I think its funny how everyone blames the president for all the counties economical problems and financial strife but fails to realize that the president still needs congress and Senate approval to make any major decision. Next thing is that the majority of all the government offices are Republican who have been shooting down our presidents proposal right and left. In closing, it really pisses me off how people show little to no respect to this man that hold the highest office in our country. Agree or disagree with his policies, he is still Our president. I have served my county proudly and I think that any American that has fought for and to keep the freedom of speech uses it when needed and not just to voice an ingnorant *** opinion because they can. Nice cross rifles by the way. :)

Back on topic, I just saw this in a magazine last week, how long has this pistol been on the market?

Nothing he said was untrue. Congress has nothing to do with the fed. Matter of fact, geithner was asked point blank if they planned any "quantitative easing" in regard to the debt, and he said no. Yet They did anyway. This was testimony TO congress.

How you can blame congress for that is beyond me.

The repubs have had power for little over a year now. BO got everything he wanted to that point. Spent more money in 3 years than W in 8. This AFTER he called W unpatriotic for the spending.

Thank GOD somebody is in DC blocking this spending (attempting to anyway).

    Talk about "ignorant *** comments"...WOW.

Sorry, OP for jacking the thread. It just seems we've had an influx lately of these left wing "gun owners", and I couldn't let it go.

You're right. Which is why I put the words gun owner in quotations.

And I think, OP, maybe the anchor mark is more important for collectors. if you like it that's what matters. I own many things that I paid more for, on the premise it was what I wanted. :)

For God sakes lets impeach him. He single handedly is bringing this country to its knees. It has nothing to do with us giving foreign aid or shooting billions of dollars into space. Lets be honest here every politician makes promises based on what they know at the time but when more facts a presented that makes that that original idea unfeasible only a fool will stick with there original plan.

Now back to my question, is the anchor what makes this particular 226 a MK25
I know some of the differences that separate your standard h&k 45 from the MK23 but am lost on this one. I know the MK23 is about twice as much also.

As listed on Sig's website "UID identification label, anti-corrosion coatings (Phosphate) on controls and internal components, anchor engraving". Plus you apparently get a certificate of authenticity. If i found one for 1000 or a little less, i might invest but that's not enough to make me wanna spend around 1200 as listed YMMV

Sir, your *** Hatery is now responsible for the fresh minting of a brand new term here at FTF.

We've had Fan Boys of every stripe as if relates to this gun or that but never before have we experienced political ignorance quite on par with yours as expressed in your rant on this thread. For this reason I, Tackleberry hereby dub you the first Obama Fan Boy. OFB shall be your new call sign.

If you willing to pay enough, I'm sure you could get yours engraved with your new call sign, "OFB", heck, they'd probably even put "Hope and Change" on it for you.:)

One more thing. All of us vet's know that our oath had nothing to do with supporting the POTUS. The oath is to uphold and defend the CONSTITUTION which this guy has been ****ting all over since day one.

I would ask exactly what you "supposedly" did in the military, but I'm certain the answer would be B.S. That's Ok, keep identifying your favorite guns by playing video games and try to keep your room clean so mommy stays off your back.

That didn't answer my question but having something engraved on one of my pistols may happen in the future. I know what I did in the military and to explain or convince you is not a priority. I respect anyone that has ever worn the uniform even if I disagree with how they think. At last I checked the POTUS is still The Commander in Chief but hey whatever right. I dont know a lot about video games except what my kids tell me and War game dont interest me. I think they have a kind of a lure for those who wish they were man enough to join the infantry............but I let you get back to your level

Ok I'll play along. You were Infantry. Where did you train and what unique characteristic does the M249 saw impart on spent shell casings?

    And remember, you started this.:)

What's the problem OFB? Having trouble googling Infantry training sites and M249 spent shell casing while hiding your smart phone from 3rd period Biology teacher? I can see how that would be difficult.;)

Tell you what, I'll bury the hatchet now on the condition you DON't respond to these questions after wearing out the search engines over your lunch break AND that the next time you decide to quote a member for a rant, you at least show the courtesy of understanding the levers of government. This will show respect and prevent you from again being pegged as a complete *** hat.
