Finally got my new Sig Sauer P226 COMBAT variant out to my gun club and gave it it's first shake down cruise, and it performed flawlessly. Unlike the P226 I bought my son a couple of years ago this one did NOT come with the cheap/crappy Checkmate mags, but real-deal "Made in Italy" MecGar magazines. Sweet.

    Here's the video:

Designed to meet, and exceed, rigorous military standards, the P226® Combat performs like no other 9mm available. Each pistol features the military's Flat Dark Earth finish on its alloy frame and SIG's Nitron® finish over a stainless slide. Internal parts and controls are phosphated for extreme corrosion resistance and reduced friction while the barrel is hard chromed and finished in Nitron® which easily passes the military's accuracy requirements. The P226 Combat also passes the military's 240-hour salt spray corrosion test. Additional features include a M1913 Picatinny rail, vertical front strap serrations and SIGLITE® night sights.

Happy to here about the mags.:D I tell you what...there is something about the Zen of a P226. The world seems alright when you are shooting it.;) Keep up the good work on your vids. I have watched them all.

Looks like you got another fine weapon! Glad to hear the mags are good ones too. I also have watched all of your vids. I really enjoyed your Glock 20 vid with the buffalo bore ammo and all of the smoke. Looks like great fun.

So.....is Sig moving back to Mec-Gar mags, or did you just get lucky?

I don't know. The pistol was brand new....came with two MecGars. When I bought my son his P226 a couple years or so ago, it came with the crappy Checkmates.

As I live in Commifornia I can't get one so I'll make do with my old 357Sig/.40 226.

go figure...no idea why some would come with Checkmate others don't.

Any chance that they are sent from Germany with MecGars?

I noticed the frame on mine specifically says, "Made in Germany" ... my son's P226 does not.

Interesting...I wonder if the "higher end" variants are coming from Europe with MecGars.

I may just give SIG a call. I'm sure they just love to answer questions like this.

For the 1200 ( Canadian ) plus taxes I paid for my TacOps. I would expect quality mags.

Any Pistol sold for 1000 and up shouldn't come with substandard mags.
