My old man got one today. Shot about 40 rds thru it this evening of mixed 2 or 3 of this and that. Neither of us are much into pistol shooting, I shot a 4 shot grp around 1.5" at 10yds. Gonna load up some more of the same tomorrow and see if it was a fluke. I wasnt crazy about him getting a 45 at first but I may change my mind.

45acp is one of the top accuracy rounds. not only hard hitting its a tack driver. the sigp220 is one of the best 45autos out there. congrats to your dad for a most excellent choice

    I prefer the 9MM to the .45, but when I do carry a .45 (sometimes I do) it's a SIG P220.

I have a Glock 21 and a 1911 as well, but to me, the P220 stands head and shoulders above both of them.

The "What's Better" discussion could ask 10,000 different people for their expert opinion and 10,000 experts will have different opinions. What it comes right down to is personal ability and comfort. If you shoot a 9mm better than a .45 and are more accurate with it under pressure a 9mm is better for you. If I shoot a .45 better than a 9mm and am more accurate with it under pressure than a .45 is better for me. My "Expert Opinion" (Joking, I'm no expert) is a .22 to the heart will stop someone faster than a .45 to the toe.

As for the P220, great gun. Congrats to Dad. Please give us more range reports as the two of you shoot it more.

Loaded up some semiwadcutters (forget the weight, they were Hornady) with 231 (5 grains i believe, the old man already had the drop scale set up before i got there) and both of us shot around 2in groups off a bag at 15yds, but the PoI was about 4in high. Then we shot some factory WW 230grain copper round nose, 1.5in at 15yds off the bag with PoI right on the money. We have some 185 grain Hornady XTPs to play with but im afraid they are gonna print way low no matter what. The factory front sight is a #6 and the only other choice I can find atm is a #8. Is the #8 shorter or taller then the 6?
I need to mess with the camera and figure out how to post pictures with it.

The P220 is my all time favorite .45. I think he made a great choice.
