I shoot pistols left handed and my long guns right handed. I'm looking for a piston AR-15 platform that isn't as pricey as the LWRC rifles. I hear the Sigs use the same piston system as LWRC for a fraction of the cost.

    are you right eye dominant?

Have you considered Addax Tactical? They make real nice pistons. I believe the Sig is hampered by a lot of proprietary parts.

I thought the 556 was proprietary whereas the 516 was more AR-15 friendly.

Besides the obvious (piston and gas block) I believe the barrel nut is proprietary requiring an expensive tool, as are the hand guards. IIRC alot of people were having trouble trying to change or remove their handguards, so you are probably stuck with what it comes with. The bolt, and carrier and extractor are also proprietary also though they may be interchangeable with LWRC's designs.

Gotcha. I read on AR15.com that even though the Sig BCG is supposedly proprietary, you can still throw in a standard AR-15 and it will work.

Like AT, I would have voted none of the above or "industry standard" AR.

The rifle I currently have is the "industry standard" but I'd like to get a piston driven rifle since I use a suppressor but I don't want to spend more than what my current rifle is worth.
