Check the slide to frame fit. Check if there is any play between the barrel and barrel bushing. Make sure it still locks up relatively tight. It's going to have a little play, but that's okay. You just don't want anything excessive. Provided those items are without issue, I'd try to get the gun for $200, but would gladly pay the $250. That's pretty much an original Colt gun with just different rolls marks.

Different roll marks, slightly different composition to the steel (supposedly stronger and heavier, haven't fact checked that myself). Built on original Colt factory equipment, and from original Colt factory schematics.

Its a 1958. The serial numbers match up except for the mag. Still a good deal I suppose, looks pretty good. Was bought at an estate sale.

To me, clips (magazines, some get mad over that), make no difference. On a gun that old, I would probably be getting new ones anyway.

Be very careful not to sprain your wrist while lunging for your wallet. Stuff money in seller's pocket. Take gun. Scurry home. Lock door. Maniacial laughter.

    Think that about covers it.

You robbed the seller of a minimum of 300 bucks. Some of these go for an average of 6-7 hundred depending on condition and the market. Some special specimen's have gone for upwards of 2K (the ones built BY Colt under contract, in very rare mint condition).

What importance does the import stamp to the gun? What exactly does it mean?

Just red tape. Proof that the gun was legally imported to the US by an authorized importer.
