Personally, I think buying a scope for a shotgun is kind of rediculous...which is exactly why I want one, lol.

My shotgun (Mossberg 590A1) is just for home defense. And I want a cool scope to mount on its picatinny rail.

This scope should be ideal for close range...
Suggestions?

I understand that a scope may not be ideal for home defense. I don't need any lessons from y'all. Just suggestions on cool scopes that are ideal for close range...thank you.

Ive got a vortex sparc on my saiga12 my wife uses a aimpoint patrol on her srm1216.

People use regular scopes for slug guns in hunting applications. There are scopes with ballistic reticles designed for slug usage

I have a Simmons 8 point 4x fixed power scope on my hunting shotgun. For SD I would just go with a simple red dot. The nicer red dots have great eye relief and battery life. What I don't like about the red dots is they stick out and bump into things. The upside you can see the dot at night and it is helpful in unfamiliar terrain.

You better keep an eye on that 8 point I have had the cross hairs break in two of them
