Would u rather own a shotgun or handgun.
? As in, if you could only have one, which would you want? If so, a pump 12guage with a short barrel and a long barre.
I agree orangello
get a shotgun with a pistol grip and have them both!
I have my handguns but want to buy a shotgun so I was thinking about selling my Springfield 40 cal to buy a remington 870 express. But am torn. Love my Springfield.
Everybody needs at least one shotgun
Look for a decent used shotty at the pawn shops. DO NOT trade for it.
and you 'generally' don't need to worry about the condition of the barrel in a used shotgun.
But i would look for a used one from your local classifieds. Seems like the pawn shops want almost as much for a new one as a used one where I have seen them for sale.
Everybody needs at least one shotgun. 25 shots for $6 and you can literally take down any animal in North America with a slug. A Rem 870/Mossberg 500 would be my top two choices if I could have just one. Either with a 28" smooth barrel and a 22" rifled barrel and you are set.
A pistol wouldn't even come into my consideration if I could have just one. I live in Illinois and hunt deer with a shotgun. I see what they can do up close and out to 150-200 yards. A 385 grain sabot that is fired at 1850 fps hits a deer like a freight train.
agree on the DO NOT TRADE statement. there are plenty of good shotguns out there for under $200 used if you look around on the auction sites. my local walmart has maverick 88's for around $200 new. aftermarket accessories probably won't support many of those used shotguns in that price range but i did manage to pick up my mossberg 500A for about $120 used a few months ago.
in my opinion, every gun person should have a handgun, a .22 rifle, centerfire rifle, & shotgun.
QFT right there...^^^^^^^^^
Unless you just hate your handgun, DO NOT sell it!!! It's a buyer's market right now and you'll undoubtedly take a bath on it...
A good shotty won't break the bank one bit and is mandatory if you want to call yourself a gun owner...
My advice is get one that is compatible with both shot and slugs...I bought mine 10 years ago and wasn't educated enough to know that (Mossberg 835) and it won't shoot slugs...
Keep us posted and post some pics if you can...
Do I realy have to pick one? lol Ive got everything from a 410 to 12 no 10s lol they all have there purpose
I agree with the masses. Just in this short amount of time of being a member, I have learned that when trading at the LGS, the customer will take a big hit on their trade. Everyone should have at least one shotgun in their collection for fun and HD. My advice to you is keep your Springfield, and save up for your shotgun. Another option for you is once you know what you want, go to your LGS and lay it away. Most in my area do 25% down and six months. My LGS does 25% down and no time limit, but you must make regular payments to keep your layaway.
first would be a handgun.
ALWAYS own a shotgun, in my opinion it is your most versatile gun.
If I can have only one gun it would be a 12 gauge pump shotgun! Mine is the Remington 870 the best selling shotgun in history!
I'm looking at the remington 870 express 26 inch barrel. Beautiful shotgun.
A good 12 or 20 ga semi-automatic shotgun.
If you're looking for a multipurpose, get a combo pkg. It will come with a shotgun barrel and a rifled barrel.
