I have a Rem Police with a HS Precision stock that needs to be shortened.
The recoil pad looks like it has been glued on. I understand these stocks are foam filled. There is some kind of line about half an inch from the butt. Is this a cut line for shortening? A half inch will do it. I plan to use a band saw to follow the line down and re-glue the butt on. Anyone here do this before?

Are you SURE there's not 2 screw holes in the recoil pad? I'd use screws when putting it back on if possible. Remember you'll have to contour the pad for the new shape.

If I were you, I'd buy another stock.
    That's a $250 stock used, if I didn't like it, I'd sell it.

By the way, you need to put a coat of paint on that dresser.
