Some friends and I are maybe going to Uwharrie for a hiking trip. Anyone know the legality of this activity? Is it only allowed for hunting? Anyone? I cant find regulation anywhere (for now I'm taking this as a good sign).

Not sure about your area, but the national forests in my area only permit shooting in designated areas (rifle range) unless you're hunting.

The is a rifle range that can be used for $2 a day. I believe it is a 100 yard range and I have shot there before.
I believe there are parts that are a public hunting area also.
There are great camping areas at Badin Lake also.

I miss Uwharrie, it was a great place to hang out for the weekend. I thought the range has been closed though, I know it was closed for awhile pending some sort of decision. I guess too many people were leaving trash on the range!

It's been closed since 2010 i believe. Stray 9mm nicked a 4x4 rider taking a piss. Bullet to the knee.
