i recently bought a 10x42m super sniper scope got it mounted and tuned in for 100 yards but the problem i ran into was it was 27" low and 1' to the right, the widage is fine i still have a bunch of windage adjustment left even out to 1000 yards which i am soon to start trying out, but i lost a lot of my elevation
the rifle is a savage 110 tactical 300 win mag, the rings are the burris tactical rings and bases to match 2 piece, can i just shim under the base to get some of this back, or will this damage the scope being out of line, and do i shim the back base up to raise the bullet impact up so i can dial the elevation back down? oh! and hello to everyone on here, i am new to this site so please excuse my ignorance.

If you are really going to shoot out to 1,000 yards why don't you just get a one piece base with a 20 or a 40 MOA cant built in?

Your going to need a 20moa base and it sounds like you may be close to that.

a 20 moa base is going to be lower in the front not higher. Sounds like your scope may be in a bind with the bases being that out of whack.

Don't shim the base, but shim the ring inside
