Here are a few bullet points on the guns that would be banned from sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing:
•120 specifically-named firearms
•Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
•Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds

Those who have acquired weapons recently under the pretense of being “grandfathered” in under prior laws see mention in Feinstein’s provisions as well. It requires these weapons to be registered under the National Firearms Act that will include collecting the following information
•Background check of owner and any transferee;
•Type and serial number of the firearm;
•Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
•Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
•Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

In addition, Feinstein proposes banning large-capacity magazines, which for her includes those that can hold more than 10 rounds.

i can think of one military characteristic that all guns have they shot bullets
they have sights, they have a trigger. and so one use that defenation to the extream and all guns made will have at leats one military characteristic
and then be banned.
and as for grandfathered guns i bet the national reqerstion wont be cheep just how much are you willing to spend to keep your guns per year

I'm anything but complacent. I just don't see her as taken all that seriously by her fellow congressmen and women. The best thing we can do is let OUR representatives know how we feel about any new gun legislation. Their political lives depend on us, not her.

Clinton lost control of congress over gun control. These same 80 year old gun laws were posted going back to 1963. These gun laws were based on the Nazi Crime Controls of the 1930s Germany. Dick Morris reinvented all these old laws in the 1990s. Dick Morris said where are gun owners going they have no choice. The gun owners voted the Liberal Dems out of Congress. Clinton later said the Gun control issue cost him.

Roc, I'm sorry, but have you and some others been learning NOTHING over the past four years? I remember the first AWB. I was in the Legislative Leadership Group of a State organization which was the arm of a certain well known national gunrights association...

I begged my regional "boss" to let me go speak to a certain Congressman a few miles away who's single, balance shifting, vote was wavering. I was told "it will never pass the House, and even if it does it will never get past the Senate. Stop worrying and have a good weekend." That was the weekend he changed his vote and the AWB passed.

I know how you want things to work. I even know how they are SUPPOSED to work. But they're not anymore. The firewalls of the Constitution have been breached by blame-America-first radicals and their voting majority. "You" are to be disarmed. And you, the citizen, will be. Ultimately completely. One way or another. This is now inevitable. It is only a question of when, not whether!

Scary? This is the agenda of The Left. John Boehner is the only thing standing in their way and he sat down with them a long time ago asking his overseer only how far he must capitulate. He has cut from committees almost every conservative Republican, not even personally but announcing it through the media! Even here, on this very site, remember we have unapologetic useful idiots who told us to sit down and shut up from the start and even Moderators who were, well, let's say moderate.

I am not predicting a Son-of-A-ssault Weapons Ban will pass, but am afeared it is nevertheless too little, too late, for us as a free nation to remain completely intact. So pray like there's a God and work like there isn't. Regardless, hope for the best but plan for the worst.

Don't give up hope. Although I am not a Republican I have always followed politics closely. A lot of what I am hearing from my conservative friends is almost exactly the lamentations of the liberals after the 2004 election, and my how things have changed!

I'm not happy with the direction this country seems to be going and while I'll never be 100% conservative I know I lean right on more issues than I do less, and I definitely support less government. Giving up hope is all part of "Operation Demoralize". Don't give up and don't get complacent.

Sure, this new AWB will likely be defeated, but we can't give up the fight. Honestly, this shouldn't just be defeated, it needs to be crushed to discourage new legislation or even a compromise. I don't want a compromise. NONE of what they've suggested for new gun control would have stopped Sandy Hook nor will it prevent or even discourage the next spree killer.

This is too much power for the federal govt. to have and essentially criminalizes gun owners.

Expect to find yourself on a list, which is then published by the local newspaper, to let all the criminals know just who you are, and what you own.

Germany is showing the results of their new Gun Registry program. We will be seeing more of this. All members of the European Union must have all guns registered by 2015. The American Socialist Dems. are working for this same program.

powder and primers are the weak link otherwise there are enough cases, bullets and other sources of lead to last generations. Ammo can be made at home a lot easier than a gun can...it's also a lot more prone to "fall off the back of a truck" during a crackdown. There are billions of rounds manufactured worldwide every year, it will never be successfully banned or taxed into being unaffordable.

They banned whiskey 80 years ago. The Government spent millions of dollars and lives on that one. Trucks and ships were runing around the clock from Canada and other countries. The whiskey laws were called a failure and the whole thing was shut down. The smugglers would be bringing in everything in the way of weapons. Machine guns and military weapons would be every where. Just look at countries like Mexico with strong gun laws. We are not an Island like England or Japan we are on the cross roads of the world.

first off California is broke and cannot afford to institute most of the legislation Diane Feinstein want to pass. Second of all middle class tax payers and buisneses are already leaving California in droves . Me and all my friends who I shoot with have already agreed that we will not comply with any type of gun bans and I have a strong feeling most California gun owners feel the same way. When California implodes we will be ready.
