Ok, I just got a Leapers UTG Golden Image 4x32mm scope, With Weaver/Picatinny rings. I tried to mount it on the Weaver rings on my Marlin Model 60 but the rings are too big.

My real question is, Should I simply trade/Buy rings from a Local Gunsmith/Shop owner or should I go to a Gun smith and get it mounted like My Remington Model 770, I think thats tapped receiver (Not sure whats its called)? Which way would be more Durable? Thank you for your Help and sorry for any headache's my inexpirence has caused.

the Marlin Model 60 is a rimfire. The dovetail on rimfires is 3/8" your rings that came with the scope are for a centerfire rifle. Just go and get you a set of millet rimfire rings and your in business.

This it what my Model 60 rings look like. Ibelieve they also make an adapter to use the rings you have, but probably cheaper to buy new rings.

Yea, I figured the rings were for a Centerfire, and that the obvious thing would be to get smaller rings. Just, a friend had asked me something about Tapping my reciever and so on.. So I just thought there was no harm in asking. Well, Thank you all.

A rimfire style 3/8" groove set of rings are all you need. They clamp right on. To drill & tap your receiver would be more expensive and unwarranted.
