Well, SCCY does say it's a no-questions-asked-lifetime warranty.

Did you know if your SCCY is stolen they will replace it? Geez, I hope that never happens.

My CPX-2 has earned it's position as a carry gun.

So what kind of ammo do you guys use at the range to shoot your SCCY's? I'm not sure if it was the guns fault or the ammo I was using.

I would shoot whatever I would use in a real situation as ammo is not that eensive

 

Im curious too, as ive been thinking of maybe getting one of these.

 

always good to have a known quality ammo to use as a trouble shooter. Just because the range said to use ammo X means its really all that good. Speer lawman and Remington express would be couple of the best to keep a couple box around to use to see if its a ammo issue or handguns.

 

My friend next door(a Nurse at our local Hospital who was my Nurse there 2 nights last year) Has one. She says the Slide is hard for her to work but she's getting used to it. Her husband(ex-Navy) has an SR9 two tone...
Again,..I was also interested in this Gun but it was very new a few years ago(2 i guess) so I went with what I knew and got the Rugers. That does not mean they aren't a good gun. the Engs. who Developed this Gun and it's preceding model are a group that left Kel-Tec a few years back to start SCCY...

I would have tried some new box ammo before sending it back..I recently bought a Glock 42. Picked up some .380 reloads from a local company. Shot 2 mags worth and not even one of them would cycle the slide. I then shot several mags of blazers and white box winnies with no issues at all. Have shot hundreds of rounds through it and never any further issues. Anyway, I saw the same company selling at a gun show the following week. I told them what happened..They apologized and said they had a mistake at their factory and somehow underloaded a batch. I was able to exchange 6 boxes and those all functioned well.

 

Thanks for the input. It's all helpful. Either way it's already sent back and I feel as though the problem could've been the reloaded ammo I was using. When I get it back I'm going to try another box of the same reloads that I was using. If it still doesn't work, I'll try some different ammo and see how that works and I'll report back.

 

Guns with "Tight" tolerances tend to "Gag" more often on Factory Reloads. Sometimes they have "Issues" with the powder charge of a particular lot. Ex. My series 70 Colt GC will eat just about anything 200Gr. and up. My series 80, not so much...

With close to 450 rounds thru my CPX, most of the ammo was Monarch 115 grn followed by Remington 115 grn and Tula Brass 115 grn. I have shot some steel cased ammo and some 124 grn ammo with no problems with the gun. Can't say the same for the shooter!!!!

 

Ok, so I just found out that SCCY says not to shoot Steel cased ammo or reloads. (I was shooting reloads)

 

At least you found out now and not 6 months or a year from now when you were depending on the Gun to protect you.

Joe Roebuck never worked for Kel-Tec, but the original Gen 1 SCCY was very close in design to the P11. Not so much today.

Ok, so I just found out that SCCY says not to shoot Steel cased ammo or reloads. (I was shooting reloads)

I had a CPX-2 about 2 years ago, ended up selling it strictly because I needed the money, but I loved the gun so much, that when I saw another one at auction, and the price started out cheaper then any LGS around here, I couldn't help but bid on it and actually won the auction. I plan to take it to the range for the first time Saturday. Some people have problems with there's but you'll have that with any product, rather it be cars, guns, electronics, whatever. Some people say they're fragile and what not, but if you look online, many people done torture tests on them trying anything to produce a failure on the guns, and they just can't seem to do so, and even if it does break, which I seem to think is rare from everything I've seen Sccy will repair or replace the gun for free, regardless who owns it no questions asked.

 

I bought an SCCY 2 for a truck gun, it has never failed to go bang when asked and is stupid accurate for the type of firearm it is. A person could spend a lot more and not get a better product.

 

Yeah they can buy a Hollywood gun that shoots around corners

 

Did you clean the factory goop before shooting for first time?

Sounds almost like it could be gun powder mixing with an abundance of lube and gunk in up the extractor/ejection process. Just a thought.

If it's not that they surely will fix I've heard very good things about this gun, would've purchased one myself if there weren't better carry options that I could afford. Still, very, very good bang-4-buck firearm. I'd never look down my nose at one.

 

My daughter bought a SCCY. I do not know which model it was. She told me that it kept jamming. She said she returned it and they gave her another one just like it. She had the same problem with that one. So she got a S&W 9mm. Not sure what model. She told me it was a snappy little pistol. I wonder if is was a limp wristing issue. She shoots the S&W fine. But it is a full sized gun.

 

No, I wasn't referring to Joe R, but at least two of the Machinists Did leave Kel-Tec to go there,...the size is still similar to the Keltec P-11, if not the internals. I happen to like the model myself, just don't have one. Maybe someday...

The CPX is somewhat unforgiving of poor handling (ie, limp wristing) and will not cycle correctly if it is held incorrectly. Your daughter should have had someone else shoot the CPX and have someone observe her shooting it.

Another thing, SCCY had an unfortunate run of mags where the springs were installed backwards which would have caused jamming. At least that one is an easy fix. By the way, it appears SCCY resolved the mag spring problem (probably showed someone how they go in).

My CPX2 is reliable and has earned its role as a carry gun.
