I have an unfired Savage 10 in 243 Winchester. I took it to a smith to free float the barreled action into a new stock. I asked him to use his bore scope to view the rifling. He noticed radial machine marking throughout the barrel approximately each 1/12 inches. He thinks Savage uses a broach cut rifling process and each 1/12 inch the cutter stopped and started thus leaving the radial scratches. I looked and under magnification the marks are pronounced although he thinks a few thousandths. Maybe the cutter was dull and needed replacement?

I wonder if this is a warranty situation? Any thoughts would be appreciated? Thank you--Dan
