Satin stainless 1911- Can it be polished?

    So I am look at a Charlie Daly satin stainless 1911 can it be polish to look like chrome or is there a clear coat on it

    No clear coat. It can easily be polished. I'd let someone who does polishing for a living do it though.

    I do on the side just never did a gun I do more automotive and motor cycle

    Stainless is a different animal. I recommend a test piece or spot you can't see.

    I know I polish stainless on old cars so stainless on a gun is what kind 304 so on and so on

    I'd imagine its the same. Never done it myself, not on stainless.

    It's just going to depend on how rough the metal is right now. If its not too bad then polishing won't be difficult. But if it's a rough or very matte look, chances are is going to require a lot of work.

    I polish my stainless revolvers by hand. I use Mothers Mag and Aluminum and Flitz.

    I have the polishing motor and wheels and for the cars I use white and red polishing Rouge the red is a little rougher than the white so I start up with the red and finished with the white

    A gun is a lot different than a car. I'd be especially careful. I use yellow rouge for stainless.

    Flitz is easy when the metal is already semi polished. It would hours and hours to get a shiny polish when starting out with a matte area using Flitz.
