Hey folks, I have a question if anyone can help. I have a Victory model S&W. The hand will only engage when pointing the pistol down. It flops back and forth. I have smoothed the sides of the hand slightly due to some burs. ensured proper engagement. as well put a slight bend in the post to keep it from binding in the window. But the hammer saftey has a shelf on it to guide the hand. I have smoothed this out and extended the shelf and put more spring in it by bending it. the hand still flops. WHAT THE HECK!! Can anyone tell me whats going on here?

    Broken or disconnected hand spring.

No one else has an idea because john323 said what it has to be. Revolver hands have springs to push them against the cylinder ratchet. That is the way they work. With no spring you would have to use gravity(by pointing the revolver down).

Sorry guys I finally saw what you ment. I thought you were talking about a different part. That little spring and lever are hard to see until you finally look at it close enough. My bad

The had is all good. I bent the hammer block which also has a little guide on it for the hand. Thought that's why it wasn't engaging properly. But only a little bit. It's all good now thanks to the other guys pointing out my lack of obvious placement. I'm a dork, I know.

I had to go back and edit that. As far as that part If it's good, it's good. Now good luck!
