Bought this yesterday and looking forward to taking it to the range. Anyone else have one or would like to comment on it ?

Nice shooter, it is really hard to beat a quality wheel gun.

I agree he got himself a great revolver.
But, I have been looking at your signature for a while now. What does it mean? I promise not to tell.

Received the Galco silhouette high ride OWB holster that I ordered for the 686 and like the fit and finish.

you will find the 686 does not lend itself to concealment.

NICE holster tho, fine sheath for a fine weapon. a great pairing IMHO.

The 686 is a great platform. I went w 6" barrel n trigger job - wish it had case hardened trigger/hammer. Would love to try the N frame 8 shot w 5" barrel.

Fully agree on the concealment statement. Although with the 3/4 length fleece jacket I have, it might let me carry it during the cold months. I do have several other weapons for concealed carry that are more suitable.

Thanks for the positive comments on the pairing.

The 686 is probably one of the finest revolvers S&W ever produced and is the perfect 357 Magnum platform. I just found this older one in a local shop for $450 so I couldn't pass it up.

I have a 586 I bought in '81, it's blue but I like blue, can't beat it, I'm glad I waited for the L frame to come out, was going to get a Model 27 N frame, not that it's a slouch. I like the L frame better.

Luv mine. It is a 681 not a 686, the difference being an embedded rear sight instead of the raised target sights.

it's reliability and simplicity of use is why I have it as the primary HD weapon for my household - I have no doubts that my wife can sucessfully operate this gun even in a full panic and it will always go bang - and do it with style! :)
