I went to Cabelas looking for primers and of course I had to look at their gun library to see what they had. Well I found a very nice 629-3, stainless with an 8 1/4 inch barrel. Ive been looking for a longer barrel .44mag for almost a year after buying a set of dies off of craigslist. Now I just have to clean all the dust off of it from sitting in the case for a while. The cylinder is very clean and the bore is spotless. Just wondering if anybody knows of a website that I can look up the manufacturer date of my new revolver?

Maybe contact Smith directly? There are also books you can get apparently. But those prolly cost money.

Anyway, beautiful wheel gun! Congrats on the find and purchase!

That's your best bet--There is not any online sites to look up S&W serial numbers - always wondered why

I looked at their website and it says its like $50 for a complete history report on the firearm.

My LGS has a book that should list it. I can call him in a few hours if you give me the serial number.

Already sent a message to the OP but in case anyone else was curious, it was made in March of 1993.

If you just want a DOM go visit the Smith & Wesson Forum--
A few there are to S&W as Cane is to Colt here ;)

Went out Sunday morning after work with a couple buddies and brought my 629. I didnt get to take any pictures but its a nice shooter. I ran probably a little over 100 rounds through it and had a blast. Everyone I went with had long guns and we were shooting about 50 yards. I shot a few rounds at a cardboard box just to see where I was hitting and just had a good time hitting their targets they had set up. A hole from a 44mag looks a little different than 7.62x39. I wasnt going for accuracy this outing just went to spend a few hours with some friends and shoot some sh!t. Knocked down one of my friends target stand that is pretty sturdy he made of 2x4's. He set up a softball on a stand and was gonna shoot it with his Ak, but I got it first. Ran some rounds through my carry weapon, just had a good time shooting.
