Rust. A gun lovers worst nighmare

    Have a .22 Springfield my grandpa passed Down and it is covered in rust. I would like to remember him by festoring it to its origional form. I need your help please

    Oil and 0000 steel wool or as C3 says" Kroil and bronze chore boy(not steel chore boy)".

    three step process 320,400 and matchless polishing wheels . the model 12 in my pic was covered in rust when i started rebue on it.

    When I restore old rusty guns I give them a bath in remoil and scrub them with a shot bristeled brush.

    How rusty is it? Can you post a pic?

    I used oil and 0000 steel wool to remove some surface rust off my Dad's old Marlin.

    I ment to say bronze brush. It gets the rust off good
