I've shot a friend of mines m44, just a cut down 91/30. Shoots good, the bolt is a little sticky, bit from what i hear its hit and miss. Just handle it first and you will know what you are getting.

A shop around here sells em for $125, its a little steep but I may pick one up anyway. I bet I can get one for $125 out the door. Maybe he'll throw in a pouch and a box of ammo.

They're cheap, reliable rifles with decent accuracy (you will not win any accuracy competitions with it, but they shoot pretty good). Get one, then get the M38 and the M44 and the M28 and the M27 and the M28/30 and the...... :D

dirty chamber and lugs + painted ammo cartridges = sticking bolt.
Simple fix--CLEAN IT WELL BEFORE YOU SHOOT IT and use brass cases.
I have NEVER heard of brass cases sticking in a Clean MN rifle!!
They should come with a Bayo, Cleaning kit, ammo pouches, tools, oiler can, and sling as a package. Mine all did. The accessories are cheap if bought seperately. around $20-$30 for all above. the 91/30's are selling in MO for $129 and tax. at most stores and some will deal lower for the sale.
They are great guns that fought in more wars that any gun should have had too.

They are going for 100$ at lima, Ohio gun show with all accessories, including bayonet. 110$ for select grade. How good can life get?

I adore my 91-40, a hefty beast with beautiful wood. However, I can't consistently hit a pie tin at 100 yards. At 200 yards I have trouble hitting the target stand. I have some cork paper to bed the barrel with, maybe that will help next time out. Right now my 91-40 is the last rifle I would grab off my rack in an emergency.
