Im in the market for a large frame .44mag and I love Ruger products. Im going to look at the 9.5inch barrel for a range gun. Any body have one or shot one? My local range does not have one for rent and nobody I know has one. The only other large frame .44mag to compare to is a 6inch S&W 629 that ive shot 100 rounds through or so.

Nice. I love my Gp100 and im looking for a sp101 for another carry gun, and I found a good deal on .44mag dies so im buying a firearm because I dont own a .44mag. I love my logic of thinking. Sure my wife does also.
I don't own a Blackhawk but I've shot one several times...

It was magnificent...
I have 2 hunting buddies that have 7.5" SRH's for hunting with EOtecs on them and from a bench both can shoot 3" 100 yards groups. There hunting ammo is Double Taps 240gr sp moves along at just under 1500fps average too.
I have two Ruger Super Redhawks one with a seven inch barrel and the other is a Alaskan. Both are chambered in .454 the Alaskan with some loads is not to fun to shoot but the longer barreled gun surprisingly isn't to bad. Haven't had the opportunity to shoot one in .44mag but would have to say it would be a sweet shooting rig. Rugers are quality over built guns and you would be hard pressed to find a better revolver. My Bro. In Law has a Super Blackhawk .44mag with around a seven inch barrel and its one of the funner guns I've shot. Very accurate very smooth trigger. Good gun if you don't mind a single action. Both my .44 mags are Taurus. One Raging Bull and a Titanium ultra light with a four inch barrel. I've shot the Bull more than any of them and it is quite impressive. Shoots well with all loads and very good accuracy. The Titanium not so much. That sucker is almost impossible to hang on to when you shoot it. I use it for a carry gun when I'm hunting. Miles in from the nearest road it's nice to have and you can pack it on a hunt for days and not wish you left it home but its nothing you want to target practice with. I'm not recoil shy but Holy Buckets. If you ever get the chance shoot one. If I could figure how to post pictures I'd put them on here for you for a look see.
