I just bought a new Ruger sr40c and yesterday I was at the range and I had a FTF every other shot. Very frustrated, can anyone help me figure it out??

Did you try multiple brands of ammo?

+3, it's almost never the gun itself so concentrate on your ammo and magazines.

Did you break the whole thing down and clean it prior to firing it? There's a lot of grease in it from the factory.

Nothing to do with the subject at hand, but how many rounds does the sr40c hold? I have an sr40 that holds 15+1 but have been looking at the compact for carey

Might be all of the above.

Okay it happened with both magazines but it got better when I only loaded them half full, I was using fiochi or however it's spelled fmj 175grn. I can't tell if the magazine spring is too strong and its trying to double feed or if it's the ammo. And yes I cleaned everything when I first got it.

Ok, the rain will fall on me for my opinion. But, I have never had a problem with a new gun. Start with locally available ammo ( don't start with Italy ammo start with Walmart). Fill your mags for a few days/unload and reload several times, clean and read the manual, rack your new gem a couple of hundred time before you shoot. Let the barrel ramp feel some action & eat some rounds; hold the weapon firm. After 200 live rounds and it still misbehaves...good luck. I have no experience to share.
