I have a chance to get a Ruger-4 inch barrel in the original box for less than 200.00. I don't know sqat about this gun, but think I should get it? I would be trading a Mossberg 500c 20 gauge that I have 100.00 in and 75.00 cash. Good deal or not?? By the way it is a SS gun in excelent condition.

    Is the Ruger a .357 or a .38? They made some .38 models. If it's a .357, $200. is a good price.

Would you prefer to keep the shotgun, or would you rather have the Ruger?

It is a 357. I have a safe full of long guns and the little 20 gauge wouldn't be missed.

If the Ruger is clean and locks up tight, the barrel and crown are good etc, jump on it.

It should be able to shoot .38 specials.

That's the nice thing about .357's. You can shoot .38's for fairly cheap plinking and .357's for when you just want a blast or for SD.

    Security Six pistol

I have a Security Six from the mid 1970's it's a 4" bbl in the blue frame, This gun was carried by my Dad when he worked his security job back then, & I carry this gun a lot, in my Bianchi X15 shoulder holster during the cool weather, & in a OWB holster during the warmer weather, I love this gun, its accurate & reliable, & it hides pretty good also, I keep it loaded with 125 GR. gold dot ammo for SD.

The Security Six is one of the finest medium frame 357 revolvers ever made---I have two 4" (one blue, one SS)---buy it!

    Excellent price.

Snatch it up, you'll never be sorry you did.

I've owned two(2), only have the 4" SS and will never part with it.

    Fine gun and shooter.:)

What are our chances the OP will show up to post pictures and a range report?

Slim and none I suppose. :p;):D

eta: Profile says he was here on 16NOV11, so I guess there is still a chance for pics.

My first handgun was a SS! At the time it was 20 years older than me and even today I still love it everytime I shoot it. If it was me I would by it!
