i was looking at the 6" model at my LGS for $620 and was comfortable with the price. the MSRP on the one i was looking at was $759. so i was very comfortable with the price.

I know you asked about new. But thought I'd let you know I just picked up a used 4" for $520.00 and shoots great glad to finally have another revolver.

The price is a little high. $599 is about tops for a standard GP100 around here. The Wiley Clapp edition does bring more.

Well the thing was my wife really wants t0 learn how to shoot so we're looking at it primarily for her. We loaded one with 38s. She likes how she can get her pinky on the grip. There were some cheaper options but she didn't like them.

If that is the case go ahead and spend the extra. I have been trying to get my wife to shoot with me for a few years without any luck.

Five inchers are not in current production. Okay for new old stock, too much for used.
