I was looking into the 77/22 about 2 years ago, but quickly realized it was out of my price range. Although I'd love to have one... seems to my highly uneducated guesswork to be a rather accurate piece.

And, it's a Ruger... (I'm secretly a fan of Ruger)

I am afraid I am of no help here my friend, I have no knowledge or hands on with this one at all.

That said, I am a fan of that .17hmr cartridge. Pretty cool little plinker. Great learning round for the young guns in the crowd and still has the ability to knock rodent sized small game in the dirt.

It's supposed to shoot dead flat for about 250 yards. I've read quite a few reviews that say it's nothing to drop a squirrel or ground hog at 150 yards with good optics. I'm pretty sure that I'm adding one to my shopping list.

Right now, it's easily one of the hottest calibers asked about in the shop. We get, probably, 3 or 4 questions about the cartridge on them a week for the last 4 to 6 months...

I think you will find the cartridge easy to shoot and a ball for all in the family.

I expect a range report young man!

i love them. I picked up a single shot for about 400 about a year ago. Great gun. Love shooting it down at the range.

Definitely keep this updated if at all possible... I might consider saving up for one of these if the above posts ring true... or sooner if I opt to get a gun before biking leathers (doubtful, but possible).

The M14 that I've been drooling over for a couple of years is at the top of the list. I've got to buy it before they're outlawed. I don't see a bolt action, rimfire being banned in the next few years.

I have a shooting buddy that has a 77/22 hornet. Once he got it he sent it off to CO for some work. When it came back it was wearing a Shilen Match grade stainless steel barrel in 17K-Hornet. I meet up with him on the range last week. That puppy will shoot 1/4" goups while fire forming brass. That and it was running 3700 fps with fire formed reloads with a 25gr V-max.

I personaly would not spend money on a 17 cal rimfire. The ammo is way to expensive for me to just throw away I would get the Hornet model and chamber it in a 17 K-Hornet.
