Yup, and I've heard it has a loaded chamber indicator and a mag disconnect - I truly hope not as it would have JMB rolling over in his grave. Given Ruger's affectation for lawyerly stuff - it probably will have. It'll also be recalled within the first 6 months...

I hope the rumors NGIB mentioned aren't true, it would truly be a sacrilege to eff with the 1911 design in such a way.

Revealed today and free of both those features, NGIB. It's a pure Series 70 firing system. Posted a new thread with official launch info.

I wonder why they went with a flat mainspring housing?

Original 1911 was flat. Very common mod is to replace the arched one with a flat one. More people seem to prefer flat to arched.

    Sub $800.

    That makes it awfully tempting.

I like the sound of that. Just might be time for another one. Maybe give it some time, get some reviews.

True, it does have that weakness/fault. Sad that they did not follow the proven and VERY STRONG and EFFECTIVE external extractor like the S&W E Series.;)

Their design can pull out a trash can and throw it at the bad guys.:D

There is a review on gunblast which states it does have a loaded chamber indicator but I didn't notice anything about the mag disconnect. It states it is based on the Series 80.

I'm wondering if it has a long trigger? Not up on my measurements.

It's actually a series 70 firing system, according to Ruger's web site. There's no loaded chamber indicator, but there is a "visual inspection port." There is no mag disconnect.

i'm a ruger fan, i've been waiting and waiting for the 1911 to come out. i've even posted on the ruger forums stating my desire for a ruger 1911. so they finally get it and i can't get one. thank you state of california...12 more years till i leave. till then, i'll have to have my dad "pass" one down to me as a gift. ;)(he lives out state)
