    Hello all.
I placed an order for the ruger 10/22 takedown and I'm looking to get a nice scope for it. I've been looking at the leupold vx-r 1.25-4x20. I'm looking to do some target shooting out to 100-150 yards. Am I looking in the right direction? Any opinions and feedback would be appreciated.

    ????
Over 100 yards with a 22 is a challenge even for a bolt action target rifle on a bench rest. Are you looking for 1" groups at 150 yards or 6" groups?

The Takedown is a nice rifle & I want one, but not for target shooting.

Should get a 17hmr... Thing is crazy accurate at 30 yards... Even my gf can make a few shots touch together... That's like .5" moa..

Thank you. I was wondering if that range was even possible. This will be my first 22, so I'm very ignorant to what its able to do. I own a m&p 5.56/223 and that's been my only experience with a rifle. Thanks for your feedback!

That looks like a very capable round. This is actually the first time I've heard of it. Thanks

Pull up some .22lr ballistic charts.

Here’s a link to the Federal Ballistic Calculator download: http://www.federalpremium.com/resources/ballistics_application.aspx

Take a look at the .22lr bullet drop & wind drift data.
Note the drop for their 40 gr. 1240 muzzle velocity round is -20 inches at 150 yards with a 50 yard zero, and over a 10 inch drift with a 10 mph cross wind.

How much experience do you have shooting your 5.56 at 300-400 yards? That’s what shooting a .22lr at 150 yards would be like. It’s why I bought mine (Savage MkII). My local range is only 100 yards.

That's an excellent link. Thanks for posting it. I've never taken my 5.56 out over 200 yards :( but I'd like to some day. Thanks again for your input.
