Where can I find how to properly remove the barrel from a M1 carbine?
What is the barrel /receiverthread size?

You will need the blocks for the receiver, and a barrel wrench- and a BIG vise. These are specialized tools that you will never use for anything else, and are somewhat pricy. The wrench MY smith uses is about 4 feet long. You will also need a set of headspace gauges when putting new barrel on- and there is the issue of "indexing"- getting the barrel in place, and having the sights on top, gas piston on the bottom- and not at 5 o'clock.

Not that you asked me for it, but my advice would be to find a competent gunsmith, and pay him the few bucks to do it right. There have been a LOT of receivers destroyed by folks that thought they could clamp a barrel in a vise, and run a tire iron through the receiver, and twist really hard.

    Thanks,
In all probability I will take it to a nearby gunsmith, however, I was interested in the process.
