Hey y'all I'm new here but I have a Rossi .22 pump model 62a and I was shooting it a while back and it just stopped ejecting the spent casings. When you open the chamber there is a flat bar but one of the corners looks like its broke off. Does anybody know if this is why it won't work and if so where can I get parts and how do you replace it. Thanks in advance

From your post, I am assuming the casing is extracted, but not ejected from the gun.

If you can post a picture of the broken part, it would help.

The actual eject is done by the carrier lifting and the rear corner of the carrier is cut out
to clear the bolt. It does not eject until the action is fully to the rear, pushing the spent cartridge
up and out of the extractor.

It may just be a cleaning issue. Dirt not allowing the action to move fully to the rear.

Numirich (www.gunparts.com) has the parts list
( http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufacturers/Rossi-33467/Rifles-40394/62SA-39620.htm)
but is showing sold out of the part.

Hope this helps.

You will have an extractor that pulls the case from the chamber by the rim and you will have an ejector which hits the case when it's about all the way to the rear of the action and flips it clear of the action.

From the picture, the carrier looks ok. The cutouts are are supposed to be there.

If the problem is the shell not being pulled out of the barrel, it could just be dirt build
up in the barrel (chamber). try a good cleaning with a brush.

I can not see the extractor in your picture as the carrier has already lifted past and
would have ejected the casing if it was there. This rifle does not have a bar that
ejects the shell
, but uses the upward motion of the carrier to push the casing out of the ejector.

Breaking down the rifle will not show the ejector, as it is on the bolt which will stay closed.

if you pull the action partially back you can see the small hook on the side of the bolt (right hand side).
if it is damaged or missing, that is your problem.

The extractor is maybe broken or missing or jammed up with gunk so it cannot function.
Also slightly possible the chamber is bad and the extractor can not pull spent shell out for that reason.

OK so I get extremely lucky and going the little piece that broke its the end of the extractor that has the little tiny hook on it but now a new problem I can get a round into the action but when I rack it forward it won't put it in the chamber it stays in the action can that be cause by the extractor being broke or is it an entirely new issue
