Having seen these on a website or two, am curious about their advantages for simple plinking, or does it matter?
The rifle is attractive to this (older, late-bloomer) novice.

My only .22 is our late grandfather's ancient single-shot Savage.

Their advantage is you have an accurate rifle for attractive mil-surp price. It don't offer features I desire but they do shoot very well-especially when you consider the price.

Price is sure right...

Seems like a pretty rugged gun for $100. I think that is its best attribute. Looks like the sights are tough ones, and I've read they are very nice to shoot with.
