Good, reliable, accurate, and cheap 1911, you won't be disappointed for the price.

The one I just looked at on Buds Guns looked like a decent gun for 414.

If an entry level 1911 is what you're looking for you will be hard pressed to do better than a RIA.

I have 2 kimber 1911s but I don't want to spend another 1000 bucks on one, so I'm leaning towards the ria, never shot one so I wanted some input on it before I spend the money on one

The RIA is a damn good 1911, Armscor also makes the High Standard "which i have". Mine has been 100% with over 1,300rds through it. I just had a close friend buy one and he is very happy with his too. Best $500 that ive ever spent.

I've heard nothing but good about RIA and High Standards. Many people will actually compare them to Colts, and Kimbers, and a lot of the time they will say that they are better. I've never handled a 1911, so I wouldn't know. Trip said that he held a High Standard a few weeks ago and that it felt like the slide was on ball bearings.
When I get my first 1911, it will probably be either the HS or the RIA. :D

I had a gi issue colt 1911 stolen. I'm planning on getting a RIA for a replacement. I would much rather get a colt however need a new pistol faster than I can save up for the replacement colt. I shot one last weekend its not a colt but its not 1500 either

All mine needed was better grips, and more ammo.

I have a RIA. It's my favorite gun and I have many. Never had a single issue with it. I could shoot a fly off the wall at 7 yards with it. Best part is I picked it up off of a military buddy for about $400. Good luck finding a colt for that.

The RIA pistols for the money are great guns. The fit is good but the finish is a bit rough. Check out the ACII by metro Arms as the finish on the blued models is really nice. ATI by SAM is another good gun in that price range. Finish is better on them also. All are Filipino made and great buys. I just wish Metro arms made one in 9mm as I would get it immediatly.
