I recently bought my first handgun, a 9mm for target shooting and for self defense in my home. Since I bought I have been reading a lot about different ammo and stocking up as much as possible. I have read a lot about over penetration on 9mm FMJ which is what I have been buying. Last time I was at walmart they had a 100 rnd box of Remington UMC JHP 115g. I know these are probably not the highest quality JHPs but surely they must be more potent as far as expansion and have a lesser chance of over penetration than a standard range FMJ? I have read that this ammo is dirty which I did notice after shooting some but for the price I don't mind and it gives me an excuse to take my gun apart more. So basically how much better will these 9mm remington UMC JHPs be for self defense in the home compared to FMJ 9mm?
