Looking into getting one of these in 22-250. Seems like a good gun for the money. They say it's modeled after the ADL, but does it have a drop plate in it? Thanks for any help anyone might have.

    Mine does.

Let me google that for you

I have one in .243 and it shoots extremely well. I replaced the stock, though, which I hated.

I have shot some .25 moa groups with mine in 308 with my handloads. Changing the stock is a must for accuracy though.

Yeah, I did a little closer investigation on the drop plate so I like that. I've heard a thing or two about the stock not being real stupendous.

Also have thought about the Remington VLS, with the laminate stock, has this been found to perform better?

I was just at the store and looked at an SPS Varmint, and I know that the stock isn't optimal, but not as bad as some I've seen. There were some other brands, which I am not going to name to refrain from turning this thread into a cat fight, that were certainly way way worse than the SPS. I think it's a pretty fair gun for the money. Probably a good slayer, maybe not target shooting quality, but a good slayer for coyotes and whitetails.

And that is what I am concerned with. I think if I was shooting a lot of rounds and got the barrel heated up, I'm sure I would see the difference. I have an SPS 7mm that has a little different stock than the varminter and although it isn't the highest of qualities, it is a killing machine. The barrel and actions are still great so that makes a big difference.

Go with the VLS much better looking rifle. My VLS will whack the hell out of ground hogs out to 350 yards.
