Recently handed down by family. It's a little unusual in that it has an "X" serial number, apparently reserialized at the arsenal.

Shot it at the range today but feel a little guilty since maybe it should be considered a family heirloom and stay in the safe. Maybe I'll get a "modern" 1911 for range use.

I try to keep it in good condition by cleaning it after every use.

Why feel guilty. Change out the barrel, grips & mags. Keep the parts in your safe & shoot the gun, just not to much. Keep it well maintained.
