For my 6th birthday I got a Remington Mohawk 600 chambered in .243 and hunted with it until my arms got too long for it and it's literally been sitting in my gun case until now, other than coming out once a year or so to get a quick clean and checkup. I'm contemplating selling or trading it to get a Model 700 and building it into a long range gun. Thoughts?

Sell it and regret it.

Keep it, save coins, buy additional gun. You will save the wear and tear on your shoe leather from kicking yourself for selling your Mohawk.

For the record, I'm not trying to sell or trade the gun on here. I'm just trying to gather thoughts on what it could be sold or traded for.

Arms to long?? Did dad have the stock cut down for you? Guess you could have a smith add a 1" or 1 1/2 contrasting wood spacer + a recoil pad but not glued on just screwed and still use it. You can then as some point you have kids pull the screws and add the old recoil pad back for the next generation of hunters.

OR maybe a slip on rcoil pad to increase LOP.

Those pads just look goofy to me. Does anyone know if the Mohawk 600 will fit in the regular 600 stocks? From my understanding they are just missing the vent rib so I can't imagine the bedding screws would be any different. Correct? Heck, if possible I wouldn't mind having it rebarreled to .308. I just don't have much use for .243 anymore.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Ruger Gunsite Scout? From what I can see it looks like a great package. Uses the M77 action which I love. I have one in 7mm magnum and have been extremely pleased with it.
