The model is wingmaster or express or something similar, the name is on the side of the receiver.

Mine has several asterisks followed by 12 Ga 2 3/4 and 3". So similar... Probably just keeps track of generation. when it came off the line and such.

The asterisks designate choke type and the star has something to do with the chamber or head space......IIRC, might be wrong on the star

is the barrel equipped with a "REM-choke" system?

the older wingmasters and expresses didn't utilize the REM-choke system, but yours looks like a newer model. in order to change out the choke(s) you had to buy a new barrel with a built-in choke of your choice.

that's what that barrel looks like to me.

i've never seen a newer 870 without a vent-rib. it looks like it might possibly be a replacement barrel, or even a buckshot barrel................IDK.
