I have 1300 defender and my dad has an 870 as his squad car long gun. Both are excellent and reliable. I'm a little more favorable of the winchester's action but the aftermarket backing of the 870 is insane

An 870 or a Mossberg will likely outlive the Winchester. The 1300 was the follow up to the failed 1200, and was a big improvement but not quite problem free, and now they have made a few more changes with the latest Winchester pump from Turkey.

The 1300 is the best gun and the best deal out of these 3

I have the 870 and 835. The 870 is my recommendation. Smooth action and manageable recoil.

I don't like the 870 express. You have to pump it for hours on end to get it to function smoothly. The matte finish on the magazine tube has to be polished by pumping the gun before it works smoothly. The 835 is a cool gun if you have a use for the 3 1/2" chamber. All of the guns were overpriced other than the winchester. Winchester pumps and semi auto's used to be bargain priced guns. Today they are not made as well as the old winchester that were less expensive than a mossberg or a remington, but they want more money for them.

It really comes down to fit. Try them out and usually the answer is obvious.

If you want an 870 buy used Wingmaster. The last one I picked up was $250 and was in 95% give or take condition. If you want a new gun get a Benelli Nova $300 and a $100 18.5 in barrell from Brownwlls(if for HD)

Thanks for all the replies guys. I decided to hold off on buying another gun for the time being and to buy a few other items I've been wanting for the guns I already have.....and then if money permits after that, I might check in to buying another gun.
