Both are good rifles. They both come with good adjustable triggers, both are good and accurate, my 700 shoots .75 Moa all day. The main thing that I like on the 700 better is the action, I don't think that the 700 action can be beat.

Both are very good platforms. Both are excellent shooters.
I prefer the Savage over the Remington. I like being able to build a complete rifle without needing a gunsmith to do anything on it.
There are plenty of aftermarket parts choices for either brand.

This is a friendly and respectful answer to your posting. You made a very bold statement. I could start a list, but the rifles would be much more expensive. Do you mean for the price range of rifles that the 700 is in? I have been in challenges between my CZ-550 synthetic (manufactured at Czech factory) and fellow American hunters that had Remington 700s. The rivalry never ends between CZ and Remington owners over here. I have never lost though. Too bad, I would love to have a friendly challange at the range. I feel that the CZ has better quality materials with the better Mauser action. Plus, I love the set trigger on the CZ. Smooth like butter.:D

For the price range, but I still think it is one of the best out there. I know people that have spent some pretty good $$ on a custom rifles, the action from which they took from a Remington 700

The Remington action is a good action, but IMO,a Winchester 70 is about as good as you can get from a factory action. Too bad I can't get the Winchester in LH,or that's what I'd use on all of my custom builds.
The only Remington action that I own anymore is my 1903A3.

Its kinda like the argument of rem 870 vs mossy 500. Both are good and will do what you want but in this case and price range its just personal preference. Just do not get a rem mod 70. Pm of u want for details y.
    But I prefer the savage.

If you can look at both rifles, shoulder them both and see which fits you the best.

Both manufacturers make some very nice rifles,I have both Remingtons and Savages both are capable of fine accuracy,I tend to favor the Remingtons from some many years of use hunting in the field.

Can't go wrong with either brand.

Both are great rifles, I prefer the Savage because it is easier for me to work on.

Actually, Remington copied the Mauser and made it a push feed w/ a funky little button to eject. They also had to recess the bolt face to support the case head. Remington is the only manufacturer that uses a 3 piece bolt that is brazed, not the strongest. I prefer the Howa 1500 action, 1 piece milled and a flat bottom receiver.

    Can't argue one bit
    He is honest!

I am not a Remington fan, but I don't think they have changed much in 40+ years.

The CZ 550 action is by far superior to any U.S. made factory action. I don't care for the Savage accutrigger, but it is the better overall rifle of the 2. JMHO.

They have, I used to own nothing but Remingtons, now I won't touch one, my last THREE have all been defective, as was my brother's R1. I have since sworn them off and now shoot Savages, Winchester, and Tikka. Remington sold out to CCM in Apr 2007, they have not been the same ever since. I used to work for a company CCM bought out and QC was the first thing to go, within two months they did away with customer surveys because they honestly did not care. So yes they have changed, alot in fact.

savage is a better rifle all round. easy easy easy to accurize not that really much has to be done to em out of the box and anything you do want to do can be done at home with some relatively cheap tools.

i had a savage 10 fcp-sr but the wife shot it and claimed it as hers....

    here it is.

both are pushfeed action so there isnt much difference there.

Yeah that is a common problem with Savages, my sister in law shot her 1st 1/2" group with mine last time we all went to the range, I don't think I am getting that one back LOL. Just a plain jane black on black $386 package 110 30-06 from Wal-Mart (I did upgrade the scope and rings though) stupid thing shoots remarkably good, and has as good a recoil pad as I have ever seen, it tames max load 180gr 30-06 to the point a small framed female can shoot it comfortably.
