Are you interested in any particular gauges or models? Prices can vary quite a bit between models

I'm left assuming the OP is asking about the Rem 870 and the Mossberg

    500- 12 gauge pumps.

Rem 870s are a little heavier, a little better quality, but cost

a little more.(@400$, for the basic gun)

For that much, I got my Mossberg 500, NIB, with an 18" and a 28" barrel,

and three chokes for the hunting barrel.

Ithaca, and others, also make a fine 12 Gauge pump.

For price comparisons, use Bud's Guns, J&G sales, and Gunbroker.

    Remember to add shipping(@35$)

Insurance, and your FFL costs(@35 to 50 $) plus any other applicable taxes and

fees to the cost of your "Oh, it's only xxx.xx at Bud's!" gun.

I own an 870 but I'm not a big fan of either gun if I were to go buy a new pump gun tomorrow it would be a benelli nova or supernova or a good used winchester 1300

I had purchased my Mossberg 590A1 12 gauge shotgun for $410.00. Been quite satisfied with it since. A powerful piece of equipment.

Paid $300 for my Mossberg 500 with a 28 inch barrel, 24 inch rifled barrel, and a nice scope perfect for a hunting shotgun.

I used to have a meverick 88. Its almost exactly the same gun as a 500, just a few differences. Mossberg just cut out a little bit of the quality process to produce a lower priced gun.

If you dnt shoot the hell out of it, and clean it regularly, the 88 will last you as long as anything else.

Wow, Mossberg built a shotgun that's cheaper than the 500.

That's just, just,... ...so how about those Rem 870s ?

Personally im not a huge shotgun guy. I do have three 12ga two mossbergs a 590a1 and a parkerized ported with chokes 835 (one helluva gun) and a cz ringneck 12ga. I paid 385$ new for the 835 no one but me in wisconsin likes parkerized hunting guns.

The 590 i paid 350$ for in the early 90s.

I like the mossbergs over the remingtons any day of the week. Reason being the pump release and safeties are ergonomically better placed than the remington guns.

The army uses both remington and mossbergs ive always liked the mossbergs better i think its a better design.
