How much you are planning in spending is a good starting point. There is a really nice zeiss I can recommend, it runs around 1800$

There are some good Leupold's in that price range and I have always heard good things about them and their warrantee. Another brand with amazing warrantee to check out is Konus / Konus pro.

    Good luck.

I snagged my trijicon 2.5-10 for around 700. Awesome scope. Super clear and it's warranty is good for .50.

    Leupold vx-2 3-9x40 with a simple ballistic reticle $330. 50 mm is $409.

past 300-400 yards you will probably need to step up in price a bit. rule of thumb is, you can't hit what you can't see.

check out the Leupold, higher end Nikons, Vortex, Bushnell, Sightron, ect.,,,

You might want to consider a Weaver Grand Slam scope. Nice scope, very decent optics thats made in Japan by one of leading Asian scope makers. Depending on power range you want, you can buy a 4.5-14x40 A.O. to a 6-20x40 A.O. between $300 and $380 at www.natchezss.com

Want a lesser cost scope, then think about a BSA Gold Star 3-18x44 or 4-24x50. Both have side focus A.O.s. Have had one each of these scopes on centerfire rifles, one a .308, for well over a year now and after quite a few rounds downrange with them, wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Nice optics in them and ajustments for windage and etc are OK. Last time I checked around Grafs and Sons had lowest prices I could find on them.

What caliber are you shooting? Just curious

Have you considered looking at a pre-owned scope? You could get a lot more optic for your $$ going that direction. This country is rife with grown play babies that have $$ but no skill/ attention span when it comes to a lot of things, firearms are no different. I see great deals on used scopes all the time, try armslist or gunbroker.com, to name a few.....
