No.


Taper crimping is more than adequate on straight walled pistol cartridges.

You are securing the projectile in the case to prevent bullet setback during chambering.

I love my lee factory crimp dies I had a problem with a certain brand of 38 brass bulging and lee factory crimp die solved that problem. it was cbc brass.

You were applying too much crimp. I bet that brass was slighlty longer than the other brass you were loading that session.
