I usually use Hodgon Varget in my 223 and 308 loads. I now want to start loading 6.8 Remington brass with Hornaday 110 gr BTHP anybody know why Varget would not be a good powder? Hodgon does not have any data. I hate another powder just for my 6.8. As always thanks for the info.

The powder may have the wrong burn rate needed for that cartridge. It may also not produce enough pressure in that cartridge to get the velocity needed or it may build up to much pressure causing half of your face to become separated from your other half.

There is a program that if it can be done safe will give you safe loads for a verity of powders that are not normally loaded in your specific cartridge. I have never used this software but I know plenty of people who use it.
