    My grandparents used to refer to leaving the farm as "going to town" this included every errand as if it was a day long round trip. By the time I came along "town" was 3-4 miles away, and their '66 Ford Falcon was easily capable of getting them there in less than 10 minutes.

    I live 3 miles from town and I say “going to town” :D

    I sometimes do too, in honor of them! I live a mile farther down the same road from "town" than they did.
