I thought I would share a few pictures of my weekend project. I was bored with the lame finish and scratches on my 870 so I decided to spruce them up a bit.

Looks sharp! Nice job! What did you use for the finish? What steps in your process?

Stripped it down entirely. Started with a heavy 100 grit on a palm sander and worked down to a 300 grit by hand. Two light, even coats of stain. A coat of poly. Lightly sand it with #0000 steel wool. Another coat of poly and a very light brush over with the steel wool + rough rubbing with a cotton towel to get rid of any tack.

    Lookin' good brother!

You know what the "best" final sandpaper grit to use?

A brown paper bag from your grocery store. Don't knock it until you try it!
