well, I bought a marlin a cple yrs back, for 100 bucks it was a complete rust bucket, I killed btween 12 and 15 deer with it like that, I decided to tear it down and refinished it, I also high sped polished every point of contact on the hammer, bolt, extractor, and trigger and sanded down and restained the stock with rustoliums gunstock stain, here are some before and after picks of my 1986 as30-30, I still need a forearm, ive seen em online for 20bucks w/o finish, thatll be purchased very soon, anyway heres the rusty turd before and after polished up and shiny

Looks good. Nice to keep tools in good shape.

Good restoration, but I personally would have kept it like it was. It took years to get that look! :p

I would've left it alone , but I will hopefully sell it before deer season opens up here so I can get a bolt action, I hate to sell ,, but with my finances never getting better sometimes I have to sell 1 thing to get another

Why not just stick with the Marlin?
