Red light camera queen at it again | Albuquerque N.M. | KRQE NEWS 13

Officer: 'Someone is going to die at that speed'

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque Police Department Traffic Sergeant Donovan Rivera said a 31 year-old woman is a menace behind the wheel.

Over the past two years Amber Gray has been nailed 69 times by the red light cameras, which come to about three times per month.

The red light cameras have nabbed Gray many times, but police said many of those situations were very dangerous including the incident on Carlisle Boulevard and Montgomery Boulevard, where a pedestrian crossing the street nearly lost her life.

Aside from the cameras, APD has pulled her over 23 times for traffic violations.

“I have been an officer for ten years and I can't recall someone exceeding the speed limit that much,” Sergeant Rivera said.

Rivera is talking about a ticket Gray got for driving 88 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone.

Gray has been driving on a revoked license.

Police said she is a crash waiting to happen.

“Someone is going to die at that speed, reckless speed,” Gray said.

Gray owes the city nearly $10,000 in red light camera fines and late fees.

There are no warrants out for her on that because camera violations are a civil matter.

Gray also has a criminal history that includes battery, prostitution and forgery, which she told police was to pay for her heroin habit.

I wish I could! She needs to be in jail for her driving! Doing 88 in a 30 is straight to jail and serious!

We have had drunk drivers caught over the 20 times marker and still not behind bars, yes, they have their license revoked; but, still managed to get a vehicle and drive.

Cannot speak to the law THERE, but here in VA, drive on a revoked license, the car is seized, and sold by the Sheriff. You also go to jail.

There is also a little known administrative process- the Comissioner of DMV can call you in for a hearing before an adminstrative law judge if you are believed to an "An habitual offender". THAT can get your license popped for up to 10 years.

In between taking the car out from under you, and putting a jail door between you and you car keys, it seems to slow them down a bit.

Two speeding tickets in a one year period here gets you a meeting with a state cop to see if you are going to lose your license for a short time. My brother in Ohio had his revoked for several years and don't have this woman's record.

She's likely a socialist, and intends to spread her violations around so that others may share, and not make her look so bad.

Huh? You mean that's NOT re-distribution of wealth?

In many states, if you are $10K behind in child support, you go to jail. This kind of thing is ridiculous!! Once she runs a red light and KILLS someone, they will finally do something. This is the very purpose of having traffic laws, to potentially save lives. Granted, they are used as revenue generators in certain places but the idea is to keep the roads safe.

And with that, we understand why our world has gone to crap! It's just not wrong to be wrong any more.

Why, I am EVER so sorry- I should not have used the insensitive term REVOKED license. The poor dear is simply an undocumented motorist, driving cars that the rest of us won't.
