Hello Friends, Got a maverick 88 12 ga. for Christmas. It kicks the crap out of me (not a pleasure to shoot like my old Mossberg 20 ga.). I'm 66 years old, 185 pounds (mostly around my middle - skinny arms, shoulders & legs.) Have been looking at recoil pads online. Sims Limbsaver & Pachmayr Declerator seem to have good to excellent reviews & Mag Plus strap on recoil pad has mixed reviews. Does anyone have any advice for me? I'm thinking of a slip on pad. Thanks, Bernie

Hi Bernie! I've had good luck with the Pachmayr Decelerator slip on pads.

Pachmayr&reg Pachmayr your primary source for quality handgun grips and recoil pads

I've got e'm on several Mossy 500s, Ithica 51s, most all my 12ga stuff.

I even use them on my 8mm & 30-06 old military rifles.

We are in the same boat. You got me by a couple years, but I got you by around 20#. Sounds like we both ain't much for recoil. Good luck! Ken

Thanks. After posting on 3 forums I've been recommended as follows:

    Sims Limbsaver - 3 replies
    Pachmayr Decelerator - 3
    Mag Plus - 0
    KickEEZ -1
    EvoShield - 1

Anyone have thoughts about buying both recoil pad and a shoulder strap on pad?
    Thanks, Bernie

Both ideas work well. The kickeez is a limbsaver product.
