I purchased a Marlin Papoose (Model 70P) for a decent price.

There are a couple of problems that are somewhat easy fixes.

The trigger guard assembly is broken. This uses the same guard as the Model 70, and the assembly is available for less than $30.

The second problem is that the previous owner failed to read the instructions of storage of the barrel. There is a tag in the case that explains long term storage is not recommended without proper precautions. Something about a thin coat of oil on the barrel and things like that.

Well, I am in the process of removing the surface rust with Rem oil and a fine steel wool pad. The next step is to apply Aluma Hyde to the receiver and barrel.

I plan to have less than $150 invested when done.
