I went out to the desert range this morning. Conditions were good. Light breeze and about 75 degrees. I shot the Remington 700 SPS TAC .223 and my Savage MKII FV-SR 22. I ran out of 50gr Fiocchi V-Max and my LGS didn't have any. They had some 40gr, so I decided to try a box out. I couldn't get them to group very well at all. The one pic posted is the exception, most were a mixed bag. Couldn't get any great groups out of the Savage either. Ammo used was CCI SV. Still, good to get out and shoot. Here are a few pics from today.
I just bought a MKII, I love it. I shoot CCI subsonic HPs and CCI subsonic segmented, they have the same POI as the SV even though there is a 20fps difference between them. I'm not really into the high velocity ammo, too much noise for the woods

I managed to pick up some Winchester M22 subsonic. 45 grain copper plated to keep suppressor leading down. I have to take it to the range. I have been tied up with cf so the rf has taken a back seat. The CCI SV segmented is also plated but I have not been finding it in stock. The CCI quiet is about the same noise level as a pellet gun without a suppressor.
The CCI SV is the "go to" ammo for myself and my shooting buddy. Some of the target ammo shoots a little better but only about 10% better at 200%+ of the cost of the CCI. I've had best groups with the Eley, but also the most fail-to-fires too. My Ruger American shoots about 1.5 MOA with the CCI and my buddys Savage does a bit better than that. If your Savage groups were from 100 yds too then you are about the same as my buddy.
Big targtet is 22 LR ammo check
Spot target is 223 Rem in Savage M 10 at 300 yards checking three charges.
All 3 charges were inside .7 MOA @300
I'll take that.

My groups were at only 50 yards w/the Savage 22. 1.5 MOA at 100 yards w/your Ruger American is excellent. Also that Savage .223 M 10 is pretty decent at 300 yards. I haven't shot paper at 300 yards yet w/my Remington 700 SPS Tactical .223. I can hit a gallon jug full of water with every shot at 300 yards.
